AFFILIATE DISCLOSURE

Last updated: April 2026

How We Make Money

RiggedOut is an independently operated gear review publication. We are reader-supported, which means our primary revenue comes from affiliate commissions. When you click a link on our site and make a purchase from a retailer, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.

This is the standard model for independent review sites, and we believe it aligns our interests with yours: we only make money when our recommendations are good enough that you actually buy the product. If we recommended junk, we would not last long.

Affiliate Programs We Participate In

RiggedOut is a participant in the following affiliate programs:

  • Amazon Associates Program: As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
  • Other retail affiliate programs: We may also participate in affiliate programs with other outdoor gear retailers and manufacturers.

Editorial Independence

This is the part we care about most. Our affiliate relationships have absolutely zero influence on our editorial content, product ratings, or recommendations. Here is how we ensure that:

  • We buy our own gear. Every product reviewed on RiggedOut is purchased at retail price with our own money. We do not accept free products, loaner units, or sponsored review opportunities.
  • Ratings are based on testing, not commissions. A product with a lucrative affiliate program gets the same honest assessment as one with no affiliate program at all. If the product is bad, we say so.
  • We recommend alternatives. In every review and best-of guide, we include options at multiple price points. If a cheaper product is the better buy for most people, we say that — even if the more expensive product has a higher commission rate.
  • No pay-to-play. Manufacturers and retailers cannot pay for placement, higher ratings, or featured positions in our content. Our rankings and recommendations are based solely on our testing and evaluation.

How Affiliate Links Work

When you see a “Check Price” or “Buy Now” button on our site, it contains an affiliate link. Here is what happens when you click it:

  • You are taken to the retailer's website (such as Amazon).
  • A small tracking cookie is placed in your browser by the retailer.
  • If you make a purchase within the cookie window (usually 24 hours for Amazon), we receive a commission — typically 1-8% of the purchase price.
  • The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go directly to the retailer. Our commission comes from the retailer, not from you.

What This Means for You

Using our affiliate links is completely optional but is the easiest way to support RiggedOut. It costs you nothing extra and helps us keep buying gear, testing it on the trail, and publishing honest reviews.

If you prefer not to use affiliate links, that is completely fine. You can always search for the product directly on the retailer's website. We would rather you trust our content than feel pressured to click a link.

FTC Compliance

In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), we disclose our affiliate relationships clearly. This page serves as our comprehensive disclosure, and individual product links are clearly marked as affiliate links throughout the site.
